Emergency evacuation procedure

EYFS providers are required by section 3.56 of the framework to have an emergency evacuation procedure.

-Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage (2023)

In the event of an emergency we will contact the emergency services as appropriate. The children not involved in any emergency will be kept apart and in a safe place as appropriate to the situation. Should a child need evacuating to hospital we will inform the emergency services of our exact location. Should all children need evacuating from a location we will calmly lead them to a safe place where they can be collected.

At Adlington our safe place would usually be the metal container at the car park, if that is unsafe it would be the enclosed pre-school area and tent at bottom camp, in which case a member of staff would wait for emergency services at the designated coordinates.

At Grappenhall Woods the children would be led to the Scout Hut, or if that is unsafe they would go to the gate area at Broad Lane.

Each staff member has a card detailing emergency coordinates which are also kept in the first aid kits.
